Can you even call it the 20s if there aren’t any illegal speakeasies being busted?

A man was arrested in Brooklyn for illegally running an unlicensed bar and gambling den, even during the coronavirus ban of large gatherings.

The 56-year-old was arrested after the NYPD found a dozen people drinking, gambling, and ignoring social distancing, according to the New York Post. The cops were alerted that the Miami II Sports Cafe was open for business through a 3-1-1 call.

The man was the first bar owner to be arrested during the city’s lockdown. He is faced with charges including the illegal sale of alcohol, promoting gambling, reckless endangerment and criminal nuisance.

Not as a direct result, Governor Andrew Cuomo announced that New Yorkers can face up to $1000 fines for not social distancing.
