If you know me, you know I have a special love for history – in particular, old-time New York City. But after my visit at 130 William, a part of me came to appreciate the greatness of modern day luxury.
The new development, located in the Financial District, only a few blocks away from Tribeca, began closings at the end of 2020. The building is already 90% occupied, with nothing smaller than 2-bedrooms available.
The high rise stands at 66 stories tall, but 130 William will not seem overpopulated or congested for residences. There are roughly 3-4 units per floor, so there is a sense of privacy.
Unit Overviews:
Like most new developments you won’t find oversized bedrooms, but you will find open layouts in the living rooms. There are currently only two 2-beds on the market, with square footage roughly 1,500 square feet. The remaining 3-beds range from 1,852 square feet (priced at $3,525,990) to 2,476 square feet (penthouse floor, priced at $7,410,990).
In my opinion, the unit's greatest strength are the tall windows, and the natural light throughout each unit. The building seems to pull off a magic trick. William Street is tight, narrow, and relatively dark. The exterior, although unique, is dark. The lobby is dark. The hallways on each floor, they’re dark. At some point, you are in need of natural light. So once you walk into the unit, it is quite a breath of fresh air to see the amazing sunlight come beaming in.
High Rise views are also a major pro for the unit. Eastern exposure units have a stunning view of the East River and the Brooklyn Bridge. From the western exposure you are surrounded by the architectural beauty of the Financial District, with the World Trade Center looming tall. Northern exposure you have City Hall, the rest of Manhattan out on the horizon and amazing East River and Hudson River views.
Amenities:
I usually do not get blown away by the amenities, but 130 William had a setup that I would pay a premium for.
To start, hands down the best swimming pool I’ve seen in an NYC residential building. With the vibe of a Miami lounge, the lap pool looks like the trendiest infinity pool you will ever see, with its glow lighting and tranquil water. There’s a hot tub, a cold bath, and even a rain shower.
Other amenities that I know I would use every day include a well-designed half court basketball court, and one of the biggest golf simulators I’ve ever seen (there is even a wet bar!).
I don’t want to bore you but they are also finishing up a private IMAX movie theater (seats 18) and there is a fantastic children’s area where you will find a mini basketball court and a mini soccer field.
Final Thoughts:
Overall, I was impressed by the building. I do believe if I were to live in that FiDi area, I would need something to reel me in, and these amenities reel me in big time. With units under $2,000 per square foot, it is definitely compelling, especially with great proximity to a copious amount of subway lines.
